Following the release of multiple teaser images as well as an equal amount of leaked information, Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan which brings new technology, performance, and refinement to the company’s flagship while also raising the bar when it comes to value and class.
In the race to bring the best-of-the-best to discerning buyers, Mercedes-Benz has taken a new approach to bring audiophile quality sound to an open top roadster. In the upcoming SL series, M-B has incorporated footwell mounted woofers directly in the frame of the car. The ~8.5″ woofers are mounted into the front bulkhead and then hidden from view with the normal carpet that you would expect to find under your feet. Why would they go to such trouble? Read on to find out.
Mercedes Benz has taken the veil of secrecy off its range topping roadster model the 2013 Mercedes SL65 AMG ahead of its official April debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show.
Fans of the old SL65 AMG will be pleased to hear that the familiar 6.0 liter twin turbocharged V12 has been retained but Mercedes engineers have upgraded the venerable power-plant with new turbochargers that now utilize a larger spiral cross section as well as new waste-gate channels and manifolds which have been designed to help further optimize airflow to the engine. These changes help the revised V12 produce a whopping 621 horsepower which is a small 17 horsepower jump over the old engine but with the same stump pulling 738 lb ft of torque – numbers that should more than satiate the tastes of all but the most die hard performance drivers.

Even though leaked images of the company’s flagship roadster made their way to the Internet last month, Mercedes-Benz chose to kick off its NAIAS festivities in grand style by unveiling the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster in the flesh for journalists assembled at its stand. The newest iteration of the SL roadster should look very familiar to those that have seen and driven the last generation SL, but that doesn’t mean Mercedes has not tweaked the SL formula once again for the latest chapter in the SL’s long and legendary story.
