Following recent spy photographs of the upcoming 918 Spyder hybrid, Porsche decided to not only reveal official photographs of the 918 Spyder prototype, but also key details that help shed light on Porsche’s latest hyper car effort.
Why Would Anyone Buy a Classic Sports Car?
EBay, Barrett Jackson, and Hemmings all abound with classic and veteran sports cars for sale and auction year-round, but why do so many people want to buy one – or even more than one?
What makes an otherwise-sane person sink exorbitant amounts of money into an obsolete piece of machinery?
I bought my first classic sports car in the 90’s – a decrepit and pitiful 1978 MG Midget. That was just the beginning; I was bitten as they say. Shortly after the Midget came home, I bought a 1977 MGB, then a 1973 MGB, a 1967 MGB GT, BMWs, Porsches, Triumphs and on and on. Let’s take a look at the reasons why folks might consider buying a classic sports car.

This car promises to be the most efficient and performance-oriented Boxster iteration the company has ever built. Investors Launch $2.6 Billion USD Lawsuit Against Porsche Over Failed VW Takeover Bid
By Carl Malek
Typically, the start of a brand new year is usually an opportunity to look towards a bright future filled with new beginnings. Unfortunately for the folks at Porsche, an ugly incident from the company’s past has resurfaced thanks to the efforts of a group of investment funds which have filed a lawsuit seeking $2.6 billion USD in damages over the events that took place during the company’s ill-fated attempt to take over Volkswagen back in 2008.
2012 Porsche 911 Carrera Revealed Ahead Of Frankfurt Debut
By: Carl Malek
After many months of teasing – not to mention several spy photos, including our own – Porsche has finally dropped the curtains on the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera (991) ahead of its impending debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September.
One of the biggest changes that careful observers will notice on the 2012 Carrera is that it has been stretched in overall wheelbase, which makes the new car about 3.9 inches longer than the old 911 it replaces along with a roof that has been lowered to help create a more aggressive appearance. In addition to the increased length, the 2012 Carrera also benefits from a body that is made from an aluminum and steel composite which not only reduces the car’s weight, but also enhances the aerodynamics of the car as well. Other than the lighter body and a slight repositioning of the side mirrors to the tops of the doors. The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera manages to retain many of the same styling and basic visual elements that have been around since the car’s first generation almost a half century ago.
U.S Pricing For 2012 Audi TT-RS Announced
By Carl Malek
Audi has finally revealed the official U.S pricing for the 2012 Audi TT-RS. Customers intent on adding one to their garage should plan on paying the $56,850 USD admission fee (destination charges not included) for the privilege of owning one of these vehicles. While these numbers do represent a $10,000 USD price increase over the TT-S, this pricing strategy helps the new Audi achieve a considerable price advantage over the $62,100 Porsche Cayman S, as well as a slight edge over the Porsche Boxster S droptop and its own $58,600 price tag.
Porsche Reveals Boxster E Specifications
By Carl Malek
Following the Boxster E program’s formal debut earlier this year, Porsche has revealed the official specifications of the three Boxster E prototype electric vehicles that are part of this advanced research program. The first two Boxster E prototypes are rear-wheel-drive and are powered by a single electric motor which produces 121 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque. As one may expect, the performance of these two prototypes is not exactly what one may call exciting, with a rather leisurely 0 to 60 time of 9.8 seconds, and an equally modest top speed of 124 miles per hour.

By Carl Malek

Known officially as the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS, this model is deigned to give Porsche customers much better performance in adverse weather conditions especially in areas where rain and snow are prevalent.
Porsche To Build New North American Headquarters In Atlanta
By Carl Malek
Porsche Cars North America has revealed plans to build a new headquarters complex in Atlanta, Georgia. The new complex is slated to be located in the “Aerotropolis Development Center,” which is just a short distance away from the brand new International Terminal at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The facility will feature new office buildings, a technical service and training center as well as a world-class customer experience area, including a handling road course to showcase the driving characteristics that characterize many of the company’s current range of models. Porsche hopes to eventually create 400 new jobs with this new complex and hopes to break ground on the new building this fall with a projected move in date sometime in 2013.
Good News and Bad News for Speed Lovers
By Chris Haak
According to a report over at The Detroit Bureau, Texas lawmakers are considering raising that state’s maximum speed limit to 85 miles per hour (137 km/h) on the wide-open, sparsely-populated sections of the biggest state in the contiguous United States.
While 85 MPH may sound fast – and it is – the change is not as dramatic as one might think. Texas already has about 520 miles of Interstates where it’s legal to travel 80 MPH. The change, if approved, would only raise the limit by five miles per hour. The bill has already been approved by the Texas House, and it’s now being considered by the Texas Senate. TDB reports that the Senate is leaning toward approving it, as is Governor Rick Perry (R) as well.
