A leak of images by the folks over at CarScoops.com, has taken the veil of secrecy off the limited production Lamborghini Aventador LP-720-4 50 Anniversario, which was expected to make its official debut at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show this weekend.
Designed to help the company celebrate its 50th anniversary, the company has limited production of this special Aventador to a mere 100 copies and each one will feature a special hue of yellow paint called “Giallo Maggio” which means Yellow May in Italian. In addition to the unique paint job, Lamborghini engineers have outfitted the model with several model exclusive exterior pieces which include a new front spoiler, side skirts, and a reworked air diffuser that are all made out of carbon fiber to help shave precious pounds while also doing their part to make the Anniversario visually stand out from standard Aventador models. A set of sleek jet black alloy wheels and special model exclusive “50” badging mounted on the rear bumper of the car round out the exterior tweaks.
The interior of the Anniversario retains many of the features as well as the basic layout seen in other Aventador models, but Lamborghini stylists continued the two tone color theme for the Anniversario by applying yellow accents to the door panels, the center console, and the supportive seats match the exterior’s “Giallo Maggio” paint and adds a stylish bit of contrast to the cabin.
While the company has not confirmed official performance figures for the Aventador Anniversario, past examples of Lamborghini badging on some of the company’s other models have always been fairly accurate measures of overall horsepower. So expect the Anniversario model to use a version of standard car’s 6.5 liter V12 engine which should be good for 720 horsepower ( a gain of 30 horses) and an equally stout 507 lb ft of torque. All of this raw power is sent to all four wheels through a seven speed automatic gearbox which is unchanged from the standard Aventador. The Anniversario should mirror the standard car’s lighting quick 2.9 second 0 to 60 sprint, as well as its 218 mph top speed.
Look for the Lamborghini Aventador LP720-4 50 Anniversario to make its formal debut at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show later this week with more details including official pricing and final performance data to be unveiled closer to the car’s debut.
