BMW Drops The Top On 2014 BMW 6 Series Frozen Brilliant White Edition

BMW has pulled the veil of secrecy off of the latest iteration of its popular line of “Frozen” limited edition models the 2014 BMW Frozen Brilliant White Edition 6 Series Convertible which is the first application of the ‘Frozen” nameplate on a BMW model outside the 3 Series model lineup.

The main change many observers will notice on these special edition convertibles is the application of the special Frozen Brilliant White Metallic matte paint which is exclusive to this model and following the groundwork laid out by other Frozen edition models, gives the car a distinct yet elegant appearance. In addition to the namesake paint treatment, the new model will also include special Frozen Black mirror caps, M Performance 20 inch wheels, and a blacked out version of the company’s familiar dual kidney front grilles.

The interior of the Frozen Brilliant White Edition retains much of the basic layout and features seen on other 6 Series models, but Frozen Brilliant White models stand out by offering model exclusive Black Nappa Leather upholstery and special Grey Poplar Wood trim which should do a good job making the model stand out from other 6 Series variants. In addition to these items of equipment, Both the company’s M Sport and Executive Packages will be fitted as standard equipment which should please buyers looking for a nice balance of performance and luxury equipment.

Performance will come from the company’s familiar 4.4 liter twin turbocharged V8 which powers the 650i and 650i xDrive models and is good for a solid 445 horsepower and an equally stout 480 lb-ft of torque which allows the Frozen Brilliant White Edition to mirror the 4.6 second 0 to 60 time achieved by its mainstream siblings. All of this muscle is transmitted to the rear or all four wheels through a eight speed automatic gearbox which comes equipped with the company’s Driving Dynamics Control technology and should do an excellent job delivering smooth shifts and decent fuel economy.

Production of this special drop top will be limited to a mere 100 copies with pricing starting at $106,695 for a rear wheel drive model while xDrive-equipped variants will start at a slightly higher $110,095 which includes the $895 destination fee. Look for the model to begin arriving at a BMW dealership near you sometime in May.
