Audi has finally revealed the official U.S pricing for the 2012 Audi TT-RS. Customers intent on adding one to their garage should plan on paying the $56,850 USD admission fee (destination charges not included) for the privilege of owning one of these vehicles. While these numbers do represent a $10,000 USD price increase over the TT-S, this pricing strategy helps the new Audi achieve a considerable price advantage over the $62,100 Porsche Cayman S, as well as a slight edge over the Porsche Boxster S droptop and its own $58,600 price tag.
The Audi TT-RS also has an edge in horsepower numbers as well, with its 2.5 liter turbocharged five cylinder engine that produces 360 horsepower and 343 lb-ft of torque. These numbers not only help the car trump its Stuttgart rivals by 50 horsepower, but Audi also claims that this engine helps the 3,306 lb coupe make the sprint to 60 mph in a brisk 4.1 seconds. All of this power and performance is routed to all four quattro-driven wheels via a six speed manual transmission, which does its part to help the car live up to its performance intent.
Other performance items that will be offered on the 2012 Audi TT-RS include a fixed rear wing, a much more aggressively styled body kit, dual exhausts, and unique 19 inch alloy wheels that are exclusive to the TT-RS. The interior of the 2012 Audi TT-RS has also been reworked as well and will offer RS exclusive features such as a 3 spoke multi-function sport steering wheel, aluminum trimmed door sills with the RS logo, and revised interior door pulls. In addition to those aforementioned items the TT-RS will also receive features such as 10-way heated leather power seats, brushed aluminum interior accents, and optional LED ambient lighting.
The Audi TT-RS promises to deliver performance for the money and it should do a good job rewarding its owners with a world class driving experience. Expect the 2012 Audi TT-RS to begin hitting Audi showrooms later this summer.
