Aston Martin To Produce £330,000 V12 Zagato

By Carl Malek

Aston Martin has formally announced that they plan on producing the Aston Martin V12 Zagato Concept as a road going car. Only a scant 150 units will be built before production is halted with prices starting at £330,000 (which is equal to a whopping $525,000 USD with current conversion rates).

The upcoming V12 Zagato will be hand assembled at Aston Martin’s global headquarters in Gaydon England, with the first deliveries expected to begin sometime next year. Aston Martin is currently accepting orders on the car but only on a strict first come, first serve format. Further serving to highlight Aston Martin’s design capabilities, development on the V12 Zagato began in the middle of 2010 with the formal engineering work being undertaken the following year. All of this hard work and development was formally showcased to the world at the Ville d’ Este Concours event, where the car won top honors in its class. The V12 Zagato would continue impressing skeptics a week later when it competed and finished the grueling Nurburgring 24 hour race. Feedback from the public during these two events was positive, and Aston Martin claims that this is what motivated the company to produce the V12 Zagato for public consumption.

The roadgoing version of the V12 Zagato will utilize a specially designed chassis made out of bonded aluminum and carbon fiber which is designed to help keep the car lightweight. Providing the momentum for the car is the company’s familiar 6.0 liter V12 engine which is good for 510 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Aston Martin has remained quiet on what transmission the car will use as well as the car’s performance numbers, but expect the performance  equation to match the cars exclusivity and high price tag.

For the lucky 150 customers that will have the unique opportunity to own this rare car, they will be rewarded with an automobile that can not only deliver world class performance, but also a level of exclusivity and rarity that cannot be matched by many automobiles. In addition the V12 Zagato will serve as another example of Aston’s commitment to producing some of the world’s best supercars.
