Ford Releases Special Edition Fiesta Sport For Europe

By Carl Malek

Ford customers in Europe will soon have the opportunity to purchase a special edition version of the Ford Fiesta for their garage. Officially known as the 2012 Fiesta Sport Special Edition, This model is designed to not only add even more excitement to the Fiesta lineup, but to also maintain interest in the current generation Fiesta which has been available in Europe since 2008.

Available exclusively as a three door hatchback, the new model will feature an extensive array of exterior tweaks and additions to help enhance the car’s sporty styling.  Some of these changes include aggressive side skirts, a chrome accented grille, twin polished exhausts, special Black Panther colored wheels, and front and rear spoiler treatments. Customers will have a choice of seven different colors for their Fiesta Sport Special Edition, including the same Black Panther paint that is used on the wheels . The interior of the 2012 Fiesta Sport Edition has also been reworked, and includes items such as custom floor mats, stainless steel pedals, and heated black leather front seats with silver contrast stitching as well as other goodies.

Providing the muscle for the 2012 Fiesta Sport Special edition is either a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder gas engine good for 132 horsepower or a 94 horse power four cylinder diesel engine that can achieve a combined fuel economy rating of 57. 1 mpg (US), which should please consumers looking for optimum fuel efficiency rather than 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 MPH) times.  As a bonus, Ford claims that thanks to the reworked exhaust system, petrol powered versions of the 2012 Fiesta Sport Special Edition can make the sprint  from 0 to 60 in 8.7 seconds and achieve a final top speed of 122 mph.

Right now, Ford has no plans on bringing the 2012 Fiesta Sport Special Edition to US shores, insisting that the model will be exclusively for the European market. Hopefully, Ford will reconsider this move and perhaps offer the model here in the near future.  Pricing for the 2012 Fiesta Sport Special Edition has also not been officially released, but customers can expect this model to ring in slightly higher than a typical Fiesta in terms of price. Either way, the 2012 Ford Fiesta Sport Special Edition is a promising package that has the performance and the looks to help keep the Fiesta fresh in the minds of consumers.

  1. Going back to previous Ford practice. Why does Europe always get the goodies and we get the leftovers? Just BS if you ask me.
