BMW Unveils Frozen Black Edition M3 Coupe

BMW of North America has formally taken the curtains off of its latest special edition BMW M3 Coupe. Officially known as the BMW M3 Frozen Black Edition, this car is not only a sequel to the equally stunning Frozen Gray edition, but it also offers many of the same features and upgrades that made the Frozen Gray edition a must-have purchase for BMW M enthusiasts last year.
Carrying on the familiar themes that were first seen on the Frozen Gray model, the latest addition to the Frozen series will feature the use of a unique Frozen Black exterior paint scheme to help give the Frozen Black Edition M3 a much more sinister appearance. The paint – which has been enhanced by the addition of a deep metallic-style luster – also helps highlight and enhance the athletic and stylish lines that have made the BMW M3 a star both on the track and on the road. Along with the unique paint job which gives the Frozen Black its name, other elements of this special M3 have been updated. This includes the use of black Novillo leather with contrasting red stitching, red brake calipers, M3 GTS wheels that have been painted black, and other “chilling” design tweaks.
Mechanically the Frozen Black edition will be virtually identical to that of a conventional M3. This means that the familiar 4.0 liter V8 and its 414 horses will all be present and accounted for. All of the power is transmitted to the ground through BMW’s M double clutch transmission, which is the sole transmission choice available for Frozen Black buyers. According to BMW, the Frozen Black Edition M3 is capable of reaching 0-to 60 in a blistering 4.5 seconds.
If you want to buy a Frozen Black Edition M3 for your garage, quantities and time itself are limited. BMW has plans to only produce 20 examples of the Frozen Black Edition M3 before ceasing production. The ordering period for the car set to start on June 16th at 11:30 Am EST. The first 19 production units will be sold on a first come, first serve basis to buyers that are willing to lighten their bank accounts to help pay the car’s $79,650 price tag. The final Frozen Black M3 will be held by BMW North America to most likely see duty running the auto show circuit and other promotional activities for the company. All 20 models will be outfitted with the M3 Competition package as well as other goodies including heated seats, a premium sound system, satellite radio, and other premium and convenience features.
This cold served treat of automotive perfection not only does a good job of continuing where the Frozen gray edition left off, but it also gives BMW fans the chance to own a rare piece of M3 history. The original Frozen Gray Edition M3 sold out in less than 12 minutes and you can expect the Frozen Black edition to have a similar encore performance when it makes its way to consumers.
