New York Auto Show – Autosavant Interview with Jan Ake Jonsson, MD Saab

By Brendan Moore

During the press days of the New York Auto Show, I had the opportunity on 03.19.2008 to speak with Jan Ake Jonsson, the Managing Director of Saab worldwide.

Mr. Jonsson was both candid and thoughtful in his comments about Saab, Saab’s recent missteps in the American market, and the new models that Saab will produce in the future.

We spoke about those cars, as well as the new BioHybrid concept. If you’re a Saaber, a Saabist, a Saabophile or something else that has an interest in Saabs, you might find it quite interesting. The audio interview is approximately 14 minutes in length. My apologies for all the background noise; the interview was conducted on the crowded floor of the auto show as Mr. Jonsson and I sat next to the new Saab 9-X BioHybrid concept.

  1. The worst thing of all the bad things Saab did was the 9-7X, the rebadged SUV, What a slap to all Saab fans everywhere.

  2. No disrespect to Jonsson, but Saab has been saying the same thing for years about the their impending comeback. Still waiting.

  3. Two things jump out at you in this interview; one, that a new 9-5 is going to show up next year. That is a surprise. Two, that the 9-4X will be available in FWD and AWD variants. I thought it was supposed to be AWD only.

  4. why didn’t saab send letters to its customers in Lebanon warning them of the engine sludge risk???

  1. New York Auto Show: Interview with Victor Muller of Spyker and Saab | Autosavant - [...] my own, it took a phenomenally brave management team of Saab to help make this happen, and Jon Ake…
