Los Angeles Auto Show

By Brendan Moore

Here we are, in Los Angeles for the opening of the Los Angeles Auto Show and things are happening early this morning.

Alan Mullally, the CEO of Ford is speaking (the opening keynote) as I type this, so more on that in just a bit.

Some quick facts:

There will be 12 (an even dozen) world premieres from the likes of Audi, Chevrolet, VW, Hyundai, Honda Nissan, etc.

There are 11 concept cars from Audi, Buick, Chrysler, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Suzuki, Volvo and Volkswagen.

Hybrids? You bet. Everyone’s showing off how green they are with their hybrids here at the show. Way too many to list here, but, trust me, it is an orgy of prominently displayed environmental concern.

Speaking of which, The Green Car of the Year Award gets bestowed on some vehicle during the show. The Green Car Journal, the leading automotive environmental magazine is the one doing the honors.

Back at you in a bit…

  1. The Mazda Tribute Hybrid is the Ford Escape Hybrid which is a Ford Escape with a Toyota Prius powertrain.

Nothing to see here, folks. Yawn.

  2. The Green Car of the Year could be a 3-ton truck? WTF?
